Embedded-Image Anti-Counterfeiting

Bilcare Protect™ is a specialty pharmaceutical-grade blister film designed to fight counterfeiting via embedded images that are nearly impossible to duplicate. The film’s effectiveness stems from a precise amount of metal deposition which, in turn, is embedded with images and patterns, creating a unique differential grating methodology. The result is a non-replicable blister package pattern — one that is permanent and does not get damaged or erased, even with high-temperature, high-pressure applications, or during post-packaging storage. The base film substrate is comprised of specialty polymers — most prevalently PVC — that conform to the stringent requirements for use in direct contact packaging of pharmaceutical and food products. The metals used in the film — aluminum for metallic appearance and zinc sulfide for transparency and color — are also approved for food and pharmaceutical contact.  A high-barrier version is available for packing products that are especially sensitive. The technology is also offered in conjunction with Aclar laminates and PVDC coated films for the blister packing of sensitive drugs. In addition to providing a secure anti-counterfeiting solution, the diverse array of the image- or pattern-embedded metalized films offers reassurance to consumers, as they represent an easily-recognized — yet equally secure — differentiator between various products during purchase and consumption. Despite its advanced technology and sophisticated manufacturing process, it is affordable, offers high levels of thermo-formability, is easy to use on a wide range of blister machinery, and is compatible with non-fill detection systems post-thermoforming. The sleek metallic presentation with secure integrated imagery makes for an authenticating blister package solution that is cost-effective as well as attractive.
