Heavy-Duty Double Planetary Mixers

These Double Planetary Mixers are designed for heavy-duty mixing of viscous formulations up to around 6 million cP. According to the company, many processes that used to rely on horizontal sigma blade mixers (kneaders) are now routinely produced in these change-can mixers. A great advantage to this vertical mixer design is the absence of any shaft seals, bearings, packing glands, or stuffing boxes in the product zone. In addition, the agitators are raised and lowered in/out of the mix vessel by a hydraulic lift, enabling easy access for cleaning between batches. Mix vessels are interchangeable and can be dedicated to a particular formulation, further reducing the risk of cross-contamination. The following optional features are commonly supplied on the mixers: charge and sight ports, vacuum and/or internal pressure design, high viscosity “HV” blades, removable sidewall scraper arm, bottom scraper blades attached to the planetary stirrers, heating/cooling jacket, sheathing and insulation, ASME code stamp (as needed), sanitary design, special polishes and coatings, built-in vacuum pump, and operator stations and PLC systems.
