NIR Gauge Designed To Monitor The End Point In Fluid Bed Drying Processes
The PharmaView allows the high performance near infrared (NIR) gauge, the PH710, to monitor the end point in fluid bed drying (FBD) processes in the pharmaceutical industry. The system is designed to overcome the traditional problems of sight glass or fiber optic probe tip contamination, which would otherwise prevent NIR technology being applied to this critical application. The PharmaView system can be used to monitor drying, wet granulation and coating processes, providing a dependable PAT solution for fluid bed drying. The system incorporates a novel sapphire fisheye device, fitted to a customized flange in the side of the fluid bed dryer bowl, through which the PH710 gauge views the process. The design is such that the eye forms a completely flush, internal surface within the bowl thus inherently minimizing powder sticking. However in the event of powder sticking the eye can be automatically rotated during the drying process to a position which allows it to undergo a self cleaning process and then be returned to the 'open' position to continue unobstructed viewing inside the dryer. The PharmaView system has been designed in accordance with cGMP and is also able to contain a 12 bar explosive rating in line with the latest specifications required by the leading fluid bed dryer manufacturers.
