Process Equipment Tracking Addresses Equipment Safety And Replacement Concerns
Process Equipment Tracking, or PET, is designed to identify and track process equipment such as pumps, hoses, bio-bags, diaphragm valves, filters, and UV lamps. Using RFID (radio frequency identification) technology, PET assists with the monitoring of equipment. Usage and cleaning cycles can be tracked to ensure timely maintenance and replacement before parts begin to fail, risk product integrity, and waste time and labor. PET offers a logical, safety-conscious approach to reduce product risk and monitor all critical process components. PET involves the attachment of RFID tags to process equipment by various methods – a molded pouch, silicone fusible tape, lamination, or watchband-style encasement – and accessing each tag’s stored information using a handheld reader/writer. Data can later be transferred to a networked computer, allowing other users to view the information. The tags are safe for use with CIP, SIP, and autoclave processes.
