Color Vision Sensors Offer Simple Set-Up

The ZFV-C color smart vision sensor inspects for correct shapes, colors and patterns at speeds to handle fast-moving production lines. With eight sensor functions available, the user simply chooses from counting, pattern recognition, size verification, position, brightness, width, text verification and hue (comparing sensed color to a reference color). As many as five sensors can be connected to one controller bus through a snap-on system, allowing five different inspections in one pass to greatly increase productivity. The ZFV-C uses a simple “target, teach, and go” setup procedure. The Color Filter function is completely automatic, and colors can be easily extracted while watching the monitor. The amplifier contains a built-in 1.8-inch LCD monitor that enables operation while viewing the image, so the measurement status can be checked while the line is moving. Communications include USB and RS-232C interfaces for connection to a personal computer. Fast, 5- to 13-ms image processing, dependent on the user’s choice of partial or full capture, supports high-speed inspections.
