Virus Filter Doubles Capacity and Flow Rate To Improve Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing

The Ultipor® VF UDV20 virus filter improves the speed, safety and economics of biopharmaceutical manufacturing. By combining the company’s Ultipor VF DV20 membrane with its high area Ultipleat® cartridge, the new UDV20 virus filter offers up to six square meters (6m2) of surface area in a single filter cartridge. The new design doubles the surface area of the original Ultipor VF DV20 virus filter and does the work of two or more filters without increasing the footprint, complexity or cost of the filter system. The combination of Ultipleat filter construction with the Ultipor VF DV20 filter’s proven hydrophilic PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) microporous membrane removes viruses as small as 20 nanometers (nm) at twice the speed, maintaining a steady flow rate over time. The new filter is available in three cartridge sizes: 10-inch (2m2 of surface area), 20-inch (4m2), or 30-inch (6m2). It can be used in a stainless steel housing or within Kleenpak™ Nova single-use capsule filter assemblies.
