The SC1 and SC30 sample delivery and cleaning units are used to help detect when a cell is filled with a sample and automatically switches off the filling pump. By delivering samples to the cell under pressure, the units eliminate errors associated with sample that tend to degas. Two peristaltic pumps are also included, facilitating the measurement of samples with significant viscosities. The interior and exterior of the sampling nozzle of the SC1 and SC30 is thoroughly cleaned and dried after every measurement, eliminating sample carryover. The sample delivery and cleaning units also automatically detect the most frequent sources of error in density and refractive index measurements, such as air bubbles, inhomogeneous samples or solvent residues, and warns the end user.
