The BioBall™, manufactured by BTF, is a small, water soluble ball containing a precise number of bacteria. It is an ideal product for quantitative microbiological QC and very easy to use, taking less than 3 minutes. BioBall has a batch mean of between 28 and 33 cfu with a standard deviation of less than 3 cfu from the batch mean. Custom batches of BioBall can be made from 5 to 100 cfu with the same precision. Applications include: positive control for quantitative QC; media QC; method validation; proficiency testing; and measurement of uncertainty (MOU) determination.
