FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. (AP) — Becton, Dickinson and Co. said Thursday it received a $52 million order from the federal government to supply syringes, needles and other supplies for swine flu shots. The company said the order, which runs through March 2010, was placed by the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, part of the Health and Human Services Department. Chairman and CEO Edward J. Ludwig said the products will go to a federal vaccination campaign to protect Americans against the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu. He said the company would be able to meet the government's needs and supply current customers with products for regular flu-season campaigns.
