THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) — Biotechnology company Amgen Inc. said Monday it named Robert A. Bradway president and chief operating officer.
Bradway's move to the newly created chief operating officer spot is effective May 11.
Bradway, 47, has been Amgen's executive vice president and chief financial officer since April 2007. He joined the company in 2006 as vice president of operations strategy.
Chief Accounting Officer Michael A. Kelly, 53, will serve as acting chief financial officer.
Kevin Sharer, 62, remains CEO and chairman of the board of directors.
Amgen also said that George J. Morrow, 58, will retire as executive vice president of global commercial operations on Jan. 31, 2011.
Shares rose 20 cents to $58.63 in aftermarket trading.
