BIO Welcomes New Professional Staff to the Industrial & Environmental Section
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Wednesday, April 06, 2011) - The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) today announced the hires of Sarah Thornton as director of biofuels and biomass policy and Miguel Suazo as manager of policy within the Industrial & Environmental Section.
Brent Erickson, executive vice president of BIO's Industrial & Environmental Section added, "The addition of Sarah Thornton and Miguel Suazo to the staff of BIO's Industrial & Environmental Section will be a significant additional asset for BIO and our member companies. Their combined experience will provide significant expertise and experience in regulatory affairs, policy formation and legislative analysis for biobased products, advanced biofuels, and renewable chemicals."
Sarah Thornton is an attorney and former associate at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck in Washington, D.C., where she served as a senior policy advisor to the Advanced Biofuels Association. She earned her law degree at American University and is a member of the Illinois Bar. She also formerly served as legislative assistant to Reps. Mike McIntyre (D-N.C.) and Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.) and as legislative correspondent to the Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship and the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.
Miguel Suazo is a graduate of the University of New Mexico School of Law. He formerly served as Energy and Environment Associate at Wellford Energy in Washington, D.C., a Law Clerk at Wallin and Briones Law Firm, LLC, and a field representative for Sen. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.).
