CAMBRIDGE,
Mass. (AP) — Aveo Pharmaceuticals
Inc. said today it appointed Henri Termeer, the outgoing chairman, CEO and
president of Genzyme Corp., to the Aveo board of directors.
Termeer had been Genzyme's president and a member of its
board since 1983, and the company's CEO since 1985. Last week, the French
drugmaker Sanofi-Aventis completed its $20.1 billion purchase of Genzyme, which
was based in Cambridge, Mass.
Aveo Pharmaceuticals, also based in Cambridge, said Douglas Cole and Russell
Hirsch won't stand for re-election to the board at Aveo's annual shareholder
meeting in June.
