SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (AP) — Sagent Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Tuesday that the FDA approved its injectable version of the anti-psychotic drug haloperidol, the generic name for the brand name drug Haldol.
Sagent said it expects to launch single-dose and multi-dose vials of the drug early in the fourth quarter. It said the U.S. market for injectable haloperidol is worth about $12.5 million per year.
Haloperidol is used to treat schizophrenia and Tourette syndrome. The drug is produced in both oral and injectable forms.
Shares of Sagent rose 17 cents to $20.36 Tuesday, shrugging off a slump in the broader market.
