Product Description
According to the package labelling, Tian Yang Xu Huo Oral Ulcer Capsule is promoted for the treatment of "Oral (Tongue and oral mucosa) ulcer, sore throat, excessive heat from ?heart and liver'."

It comes packaged in bottles containing 60 capsules.

Reason for Warning
Singapore Health Sciences Authority issued a recall notice for one batch (batch number 0812003, expiry date 11.2011) of Tian Yang Xu Huo Oral Ulcer Capsule after it was found to contain undeclared aristolochic acid.

Aristolochic acids are naturally occurring toxic substances.

Possible Side-Effects
Health risks associated with the use of products containing aristolochic acids include kidney failure and cancer.
